Mid-Century modern Ernest Born beach house and its sleek conjoined Aidlin-Darling master suite and tower addition
The main house, designed and built by architect and artist Ernest Born in 1949 is connected to a contemporary three-story master suite and tower, designed by renowned architects Aidlin-Darling, added in 2006. Both structures complement each other with dawn to dusk natural light from skylights and floor to ceiling windows that boast city, garden and ocean views. The garden-level great room stuns with 21’ ceilings and unique structure for displaying art.
The gardens, landscaped with Japanese elements, nestle beneath a Carmel-like canopy of mature cypress and pine trees. 10’ fences add privacy to one of the most unique garden spaces in San Francisco. Seen through the great room’s 21’x18’ expanse of plate glass is a garden that removes you from the City into a secluded, quiet suburban park all your own.
